Worst week of the year!!
I have always thought that my last few months in UK was the worst times I'll probably have. I call it utter bad luck, while some would beg to differ...(yes, Majush.. I'm talking about you :P)Unfortunately for me, last week was a my worst nightmare. Getting robbed by 2 Indian b*st*rds who carried a short parang-looking knife (which scared the crap out of me afterwards...with tears flowing like a river and shaken up thereafter); then impulsively signing up for a fitness contract that I wasn't prepared to sign (seeing hundreds of $$ going down the drain); and getting burnt by boiling porridge during steamboat dinner for birthday...(well, the getting burnt part was kinda nothing...but since it happened on my birthday and within the same week, I'll add that into account! :P)I'm feeling all good now - no anger, no depression, no disappointment. No matter how unpleasant last week has been, life goes on. Holding grudges and griefs wouldn't make life any better...though cursing those 2 scumbags #@**!#* does rectify my anger :P A bad week for me definitely does not stand to beat few months of depression back then, and if we can't do anything to change the past, leaving it behind and moving on is the best thing to do....because being happy is the key to enjoying life :)"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way."Labels: :(
Resolution has begun
FINALLY!!!!
I think that's the best word to described the beginning of my long overdue resolution :) Yes, I just went for BodyStep class yesterday and also swimming on Sunday morning (yay!).
I think the swimming part is even more surprising than fitness because I went alone....and at 9am in the morning!!?! (ok...are we sure we're talking about Kai here?? hehe....)
Most would know very well that I'm no early bird...not especially on weekends, but I've been telling myself that I'll go for a swim every Sunday since...I dunno, September maybe?? And on every Sunday morning, the routine has been the same.
Alarm goes off at 8.30am....snooze it for 10 mins....and there's always a 'next' Sunday...... then back to sleep!! ...zzZZ..
One of the reasons I gave myself, was that its too far to drive out.... (only 10 mins drive away?!) And I remember a dear swimmer friend saying that I should need to get a pool built by the side of my bed, only then I will have no more nonsense excuses!! And this came into 1 of my forwarded mails today....
oooo....how I'd wish.....
Last Sunday I finally ran out of excuses, so I dragged myself out of bed and went for a dip at 9.15am in the morning :) Nice coz there weren't a lot of people, which is also why I like to go early....That and also to avoid the sun :P..... Ok, so it was only a 30 mins swim....at least that's something for a start, right??
Felt like my legs were numb when I got up from the pool, while I only did 8 laps?!! (err...though its 4 according to a frequent swimmer friend...but 8 sounds better! haha...)
Monday morning at work, walking with heels was straining my calf muscles a little...plus some aches on my arms and shoulder and back.....clearly I have been slacking off for too long!! At 6pm, my dearie colleague was asking me the question again for the nine hundredth time!!!
"So are we going for the BodyStep class? Or should we go tomorrow morning? I'll pick you at 6.30am...".
NO kidding!!! 6.30am?! Ok...let's go now! hahaha....
Whoa... I'm glad I went for class. I missed Steps classes a lot....well, freestyle Steps to be precise, but BodySteps was just as good when I haven't been 'stepping' for nearly a year now!! Felt great to get all sweaty again... :)
And just when I thought I would be walking like a crab the next morning, I felt absolutely no pain at all.....neither did I have any more strains from the swimming session the day before. Fantastic!! I think I stretched it all out with those steps and tummy-crunching sit-ups :D
ARC Jubilee Dinner
Friday, 24th November 2006 - We celebrated the 25th Anniversary Jubilee dinner at Armada Hotel.
Banner with signature of attendeesIts my first company dinner and it was a whole lot more fun than I thought. The theme for the night is 'Movies', so everyone had to think of a character to dress up as. Since I didn't fancy the idea of renting, so tried to come up with costumes i can get at home.
Introducing the 'cool' guys!! (Agent K, Brokeback Mountain cowboy, Phua Chu Kang & Rosie)Yeah well, MIB - can't even tell huh? Well, its the only costume I could get out of my closet (though the shirt is borrowed...and so is the jacket...and the tie....and the sunnies :P)
Ok...so they're mostly loaned....but i managed to put something together, didn't I?? haha...
I'm not going into the details of the night...too lengthy....but all in all, it was really fun! :) And this photo I have to share.
The other cowboy in Brokeback Mountain & me :PYeah...I'm only at his shoulder height!!! Very tall guy!! Standing near him makes me feel like midget :P
and that's Vik the crazy, drunk, brain damaged pirate from who knows what movie!!And to sum up the day....
Group photo that I missed out (left early) at the end of the function..
