While I've been busy indulging with Shin Hyesung's solo albums and project album with Lyn, I've also very much enjoyed some of the solos by other Shinhwa members.
Here's a song from Kim Dongwan's first solo album, "Kim Dongwan is", titled 사랑이 가여워 (Sarangi Kayeoweo). It has a very different melody, which I very much enjoy.
Kim Dong Wan - 사랑이 가여워 (Sarangi Kayeoweo)
The latest mini album by M (Lee Minwoo) is much more to my taste than his other solo albums. From funky jazz to soul genre, I find his voice very soothing, very jazzy and very sexy. In my humble opinion, I think he sounds great with this genre and I'm absolutely looking forward for more of these. Most songs in the album are utmost enjoyable, with these 4 on top of the rest.
M (Lee Minwoo) - Believe in Love
M (Lee Minwoo) - Believe in Love (Sentimental Ver)

In the process of skimming through the mails I get from a forum, I came across a forwarded mail, inspiring nonetheless, with a quote that I've now written down.
"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass.... its about learning to dance in the rain"
Those were the days, when we'd be excited when it started raining, feeling those pearly droplets of rain falling onto our palms......
Those were the days, where we'd run into the garden, laughing and playing in the rain, only to be stopped when mothers starts calling for us....
In the process of growing up, I've been told that the being in the rain will get you wet and later sick. So let's all wait for the rain to stop, for the sun to shine again before we continue. Wait....for how long? Do we know that only the best will follow? Would having only the best in life be all good?
Life isn't all rainbow and sunshine. Without the rain, there would be no rainbow. Without the storm, we wouldn't know how nice and warm it is when the sun shines on us.
And here's a link that also came in the forwarded mails. Five Year Old Blind Genius Pianist
Remember the past, look forward to the future and embrace the present. The next time it rains, remember to bring out your dancing shoes while looking forward for the rainbow after the storm. :)
Extra extra! I am now completely submerged by the Hallyu wave!! Not just K-dramas, but with K-pop as well!!
Though I've been listening to Korean songs for the past couple of months, I haven't really considered myself as a K-pop "victim", but I guess the days of living in denial finally needs to end, as of today. I just received my orders from Yesasia, my first 2 Korean albums. Both by Shin Hyesung, now officially my favourite Korean artist.
L: Shin Hye Sung - The Beginning, New Days (Special Edition) R: Shin Hye Sung + Lyn - He Said...She Said...
"The Beginning, New Days" is Shin Hyesung's 2nd album, a work of art, released in Aug 2007. The special edition differs from the first release with 3 new extra songs, all of which is every penny worth.
First Person - Shin Hyesung (Vol2)
Even If I Erase, Throw Away, Forget... - Shin Hyesung (Vol2, Special Edition)
"He Said...She Said" is a 2nd collaboration by Shin Hyesung and Lyn, after their first duet song "Love...after".
Love...after - Shin Hyesung & Lyn (Winter Story)
Having completely captured by both their beautiful vocals, at the announcement of their new collaboration album (He Said...She Said), I knew i had to get it.
I got it pre-ordered :)
(also just having fun with my sis's new DSLR camera :P)
그대죠(Its You) by Shin Hyesung & Lyn
I shall now be indulging with the songs from both albums.... and will write up a little more in detail. Meanwhile, enjoy the songs I've shared :)
While the Eastern wave have been around for at least 10 years, I've just been a little to slow to be submerged by it.The Korean heat wave came some years later than the Japanese heat wave, but it has hit us hard nevertheless.
As for me, I didn't get caught in the J-wave, but the K-wave sure got to me! Rather late, i would say (only since a couple of months ago) but I think I sank really fast and am still sinking into the deepness that one can only imagine! First it was the K-dramas, now its K-pop.
One video on Youtube.com lead to another, and I have unknowingly been charmed by a Korean boy band by the name of Shinhwa. The band have debuted for 9 years, but I have just heard of them some 2 months ago. Despite them being a boy band, I wasn't at all attracted to their songs, but rather their charm on screen. The 6 guys from the band are just so much fun to watch. But since they are a band, I should at least give their songs a chance, right? And I eventually discovered the lead vocal, a talented singer with a voice that melts your heart from within.....There's not enough words to describe how much I love his voice and his songs and his performance and..and.... well, I think this is the time to let the song speak for itself.
Gatteun Saenggak (Same Thought) by Shin Hyesung (신혜성)
This duet is the main title track for movie "Sinking of Japan", Korean version.
Keep Holding U - Shin Hyesung thanX Sunmin Live
While I love watching all of them, and love Shin Hyesung's voice and songs, this duet titled "爱情彼岸" by Kim Dongwan and He Jie (何洁) has absolutely changed my admiration for Kim Dongwan. Its just beautiful! Oh, have I mentioned that he's Korean singing this Chinese song? Loving it!
You dream of what you think in the day.... not really!
I had a looooong break from work... 11 days to be exact, and going back to work was a like dragging myself off the bed! (For that whole break time, I went to bed at 3-4am and woke up earliest at 10am!!) My body really needs time to readjust.
I worked 9am to 8pm on the 2nd morning of year 2008. I didn't do much at work, most of the time just web surfing, really... but i went home, showered and sat in front of the tv. By 10pm, I was lying there....falling asleep! By 10.30pm, I was in bed!!! :P Talk about needing time for the body to adjust!!
I had a nightmare.... sure enough, it was about my teeth. Now that I've finally got it done, I can't help but think that its not quite over yet. I guess I've done my orthodontic treatment for so long that its become part of my life.
But phew! Luckily it was just a dream!
Went back to bed again, and this time there was Eric Mun of Shinhwa in my dream!!! (ermm... Shinhwa is my current favourite boy band. They aren't new, but I'm just 9 years slow!!)
I was talking to him, he said something to me and i slapped his arm... like the usual me... then he said, "Where did all girls like you learn to be so violent?"... and I replied "from your Korean dramas lar!" ....He thought for a second, and agreed with me!! hahahaha..... There was someone else next to me, can't recall who.
But then the scene changed (or another dream)....
There was Leo Ku and Justin Lo. And we were driving in a car with other ppl... I'm not sure how and why, but we suddenly had to climb this spiral ladder to go up. Where to? I dunno, but it's a very adventurous climb, not just going up the stairs. We were chatting our way up... but my alarm rang!
I guess I'll never know where we were heading to :)
There's a saying, that you dream of what you think of most. The nightmare about my tooth, I agree. Subconsciously, that is my fear! But the next 2 dreams, not quite!
Of the Shinhwa guys, my favourite is not Eric, but Shin Hyesung. My very own (*cough* inexperienced *cough*) dream interpreter thinks that deep down, I have unknown fantasies about Eric?! Well, I'm won't deny that Eric is good looking, but... fantasies?? I dun think so.
Dreaming of Leo Ku - he's telling me not to neglect him?! hahha... maybe.... but that sounds scary.... how is it that he can enter my dream?!
Adventurous climb up the spiral stairs - craving for a change of picture.. something out of the ordinary, something to escape from our mundane world! Hmm.... i think that might be quite right! My new year resolution does seem to lean to that direction :D
I guess my interpretor is not too bad after all :D
Birthdays have never been a very important occasion for me, whether its my own or other’s. The usual every year would be family dinner, and meeting my close friends for shopping and lunch or so. This year I made it a little different, for me and hopefully for my friends too.
Realizing my birthday this year lands on a Saturday, I’ve decided to call up my old pals from high school, 1 month ahead J Pre-booking is essential when it’s a major gathering with these girls whom I haven’t met altogether for nearly 2 years now…… or so I thought!
My dearie girlfriends :)
15th December, 6pm at Dome’s Café, The Curve. This is the very first time I’ve initiated others to join me for my birthday. Its really more of a get together rather than a birthday celebration. It felt great meeting up with all of them after so long. On meeting up, apparently some of them haven’t met each other at all since secondary school!?! Wow…that really means this is the first time all of us got together. Well, I’m kinda their mutual friend, we were even trying to chart out our how we knew each other at dinner…but...its way to complicated!! We gave up! :)
Well, most importantly we’re sitting at a table, enjoying our meal…
Me n my spaghetti bologese..
Guat Ching's...spaghetti with....carbonara? I dun remember :)
The ever-so-famous-for Mushroom Pie @ Dome's
Chicken bites? Looks so-so, but it was good :) Just a little dry...
While the projects I work on are mostly commercials, occasionally getting some fully graphics board. Here's they style frames I did for Digi's commercial, part of 3 different boards but for the same client.
Their wedding bells rang on 27th October 07'. It was quite an aspiring wedding dinner. Very grand, very pretty, very well decorated.
The Wedding Ballroom
The Decor
The morning ceremony was a handful...being the bride's sister, it was unavoidable to be running around handling everything else for the bride. But there's always family picture time after tea ceremony :)
Family photo with the newly added member
Sisters...
The highlight of the night was thanking everyone who came, immediate family on stage.
The newly weds
Parents
and sisters again...
There really wasn't many pictures of me as I was busy walking around, organizing seats, ushering relatives..basically doing a lot of walking exercise! With my eldest sister, ice sculpture in the background
And since the make up artist gave me a free makeup (as part of my sister's wedding package), here's a real close-up...but caught when i was a weeee bit in the sentimental mood :P
Well, my brother-in-law put on a little performance, singing 4 love songs and gave speeches about his love and family, and everyone started dabbing their eyes with tissue :)
A very tiring day...in fact very tiring week is more like it. So much to help out at home, so much to do at work..I was feeling very exhausted, but good that it went well.
Here's wishing all the happiness in the world for them! :)
